Ex-RAF employee Nobuhle Magwaza sentenced to 12 years for corruption

A former Road Accident Fund employee, Nobuhle Magwaza, has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for corruption, by the Durban Specialised Commercial Crime Court. During her time as a claims and legal officer with the fund, Magwaza demanded payment from claimants to fast-track the processing of a claim.
Hawks spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal, Simphiwe Mhlongo says, “Magwaza demanded a gratification of R500 000. She gave an instruction that R50 000 should be paid upfront and R450 000 can be paid later on after the claim has been finalised. The matter was reported to the Hawks members from Durban Series Corruption who opened a case of Corruption and they conducted an undercover operation where Magwaza was given money R50 000 and she was arrested immediately after taking cash and she was charged for Corruption.
