Controversial eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede has presented the City’s R50.6-billion budget for the 2019-2020 financial year.
The event was not without incident, in fact, there was a debate about her presence at the City Hall ahead of her presentation.
Gumede is out on R50, 000 bail after being arrested a fortnight ago.
She faces corruption-related charges, including fraud and money laundering.
Gumede eventually gave her budget and said the municipality has invested where residents will benefit.
The mayor said they have prioritised the creation of job opportunities for young people.
Over R19.5-million has been allocated to youth development in eThekwini Municipality.
