Eskom’s decision to suspend load-shedding raises eyebrows

Eskom’s sudden shift to suspend load-shedding after more than a week of blackouts has raised some questions.

The power utility made the announcement at the weekend, saying the grid remains constrained.

After a week of blackouts that cost the economy billions, Eskom says no load-shedding is expected this week.

The power utility says this is because of a gradual improvement in the power system.

Some energy experts are amazed at how Eskom came back from the brink so quickly.

“We still don’t believe this whole load-shedding and the way they’ve escalated it to stage 4. We are told that there’s malfunctioning of a software, we are told that there are power stations not producing electricity,” said energy analyst, Adil Nchabeleng.
