Eskom planning to add more megawatts to the grid

Eskom says it is planning to add more megawatts to the grid.

This is the second consecutive week SA has been spared load-shedding.

The parastatal’s CEO Phakamani Hadebe says there are several measures to ensure constant electricity supply is maintained.

“We have set aside R49 billion over the next four years. But over and above we have R9.5 billion that will deal with new power stations. All that combined will ensure that the trips we’ve had previously are a thing of the past.”

Hadebe added that in the next two months, two units will be coming back and will add 1,000 megawatts and that new units from Medupi will give the power grid 1,200 megawatts.
