Stage 6 power cuts will be implemented until further notice. Stage 5 was due to start at 5am on Tuesday. But the utility is struggling with generating capacity.
The return of units at Kendal, Matla and Matimba power stations have been delayed. During his weekly briefing on Sunday, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, was confident that blackouts would ease up this week.
He said they were ramping up planned maintenance as temperatures started to rise but that they could not foresee unplanned outages.
