SABC job cuts suspended to end of December

SABC

The SABC board has suspended its retrenchment process to the end of December.

The public broadcaster says this is due to further engagement and inputs received from labour and other stakeholders.

The SABC says they’ll use the time for mediated sessions with an independent labour expert to look for alternative options.

The SABC says it’s still encouraging those who wish to apply for  voluntary severance packages and early retirement to do so during the suspension period.

About 400 SABC employees face losing their jobs as the broadcaster battles to resolve its financial problems.
