Three Ekurhuleni Metro Police officers have been arrested for the alleged abduction of a Benoni supermarket owner.
It is alleged that the three officers from the Boksburg Truck Hijackings unit abducted the owner in July last year, and confiscated cigarettes worth R25,000.
They demanded money and a cell phone from the owner, before releasing him near a freeway.
The officers apparently filed false statements about the incident.
They face charges of theft, kidnapping, extortion, and defeating the ends of justice.
