EFF heads to court after Coligny convictions overturned

The EFF is heading to the Constitutional Court. That’s after the Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the convictions of the two men previously found guilty of the murder of a Coligny teenager.

Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte allegedly killed 16-year old Matlhomola Mosweu by throwing him out of a moving bakkie in 2017. The teenager was accused of stealing sunflower from a farm.

Doorewaard and Schutte were sentenced to an effective 18 and 23 years in prison respectively.

EFF leader Julius Malema says the party will fight the Supreme Court of Appeal’s decision.
