Job summary

This person’s primary responsibility will be to engage with the industry and drive and grow the publication.

This person should be confident in managing people and being able to work under pressure. They also need a strong understanding of the editor role.

Responsibilities and duties

Engaging with the travel community
Commissioning of stories
Ensuring a high editorial standard
Production of publication meets deadlines
Champion of editorial policy
Enhancing the profile of the magazine brand
Enhance circulation figures and revenue in association with the appointed team Qualifications and skills

Tertiary qualification in communications or journalism
At least two years’ editing experience working on a daily/weekly news publication
Subbing, layout and proofing experience
Strong, dynamic and independent person with good work ethic and team spirit
Experience of travel/tourism an advantage but must have travelled overseas
Drivers licence and own vehicle mandatory
Experience managing staff and freelancers
Must understand and apply the basic principles of news reporting (networking, initiating own leads and following up stories, ensuring accuracy and balanced reporting, meeting deadlines, adhering to briefs)
Able to appoint and develop less experienced people
Intelligent with an ability to grasp new concepts quickly
Good knowledge of online publishing and associated tools Company overview
