More than 300 people have been arrested for drunk driving over the Easter holidays.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) says, a further 200 were nabbed for speeding and other offences.
The highest speed recorded on the N14 in Gauteng, where a man was arrested for travelling at 196 kilometers an hour.
Traffic authorities are now preparing for the high traffic volumes when travellers return from their various destinations.
The RTMC is urging road users to plan their return carefully, with regular stops along the way to avoid fatigue.
