Pedestrians account for 44% of Easter road deaths

There has been a nearly 40% increase in Easter road deaths compared to last year.

255 people died on South African roads this year.

44% of the recorded deaths were pedestrians, while passengers accounted for 27% and drivers 25% respectively.

Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga released the statistics earlier on Friday.

She reiterated that road safety is a collective national responsibility.
