The mother, of a four-year-old toddler who drowned in a bucket, will appear before the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 28 April for murder.
According to Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, Umhlali police received a complaint from distraught residents in Ballito about the death of a four-year-old toddler on Tuesday.
When police arrived at the crime scene, the 45-year-old woman told law enforcement that her deceased daughter was troublesome.
“She stated that her child was difficult and troubling her, and she decided to drown the child in a bucket full of water until she stopped moving,” said Ngcobo.
“Both of the child’s hands were also tied with tape, and the little girl was certified dead at the scene.”
The mother was later arrested.
