Lifeguards quick reaction saves swimmer from drowning

KwaZulu-Natal: At 11H40 Saturday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a drowning at Bronze Beach, Umhlanga, North of Durban.

Reports from the scene indicate that a 56-year-old male was swept off his feet by a strong backwash and taken further into the backline.

Lifeguards were quick to rescue the man who by that stage had become submerged.

The gentleman was pulled to the safety of the shore where the Lifeguards began treating him.

When medics arrived on the scene the patient was assessed and found to be in a stable condition.

The patient, however, declined ambulance transportation to the hospital.
