Eastern Cape municipalities can’t afford to lose one drop of water, says Mchunu

Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu says water has to be restricted in the Kouga Municipality and the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.

He says this is one way of working on the Eastern Cape’s water issues and delaying Day Zero conditions.

Mchunu says there are measures in place to assist those in both municipalities.

The minister says these municipalities can’t afford to lose one drop of water.

Mchunu says all role-players need to work together to help resolve the situation.

The Kouga Municipality is the province’s second municipality to ask for help with its water problems from the Gift of the Givers Foundation.

This comes only weeks after Nelson Mandela Bay asked for assistance.
