We invite applications for the above-mentioned full-time, three (3) year fixed-term contract post based at Philippi Village. The incumbent will be required to work across communities in Philippi Village and Gugulethu. The main purpose of this position is to ensure the secure transportation of goods, staff, and patients to and from the required destination as well as assist with general duties.

Requirements: 

Grade 12 

Valid South African code 10 drivers licence with Public Driving Permit (PDP) 

At least 1-2 years’ driving experience; preferably within a research environment 

IATA trained 

Valid recent police clearance 

No traffic violations or offences 

Working knowledge of routine maintenance on small/ medium commercial vehicles
beneficial 

Knowledge of national and local traffic laws and regulations 

Possess a sound knowledge and willingness to work across of Cape Town, Philippi
Village, Gugulethu and surrounding area 

Basic computer skills – MS office proficiency 

Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills 

Planning of daily delivery routes and ability to organise accordingly 

Ability to function in a team and able to work independently 

Good time management 

Maintain strict client confidentiality 

Diligent attention to safety 

Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including weekends (Required to work on
Saturdays; substitute with week days)

Responsibilities: 

Transport staff to and from fieldwork sites 

Transport Specimens (Sputum, Blood) from clinics to Clinical Research Sites (CRS) and
CRS to laboratories 

Make arrangements for project vehicles to go for routine and annual services

Ensure that site vehicle and equipment is maintained and in optimal running conditions at
all times 

Arrange for the generator to be services according to the required schedule 

Perform administrative or general assistant duties as required
