Driver burnt to death in collision

Driver burnt to death in collision… Early Sunday morning, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on West Avenue close to Lenchen Avenue in Centurion, Pretoria.

When medics arrived at the scene, they found a light motor vehicle crushed against a large concrete block. The vehicle had burst into flames on impact. The Tshwane Fire and Rescue Services managed to extinguish the fire.

Sadly, on closer inspection, it was found that the driver of the car, an adult male, had burned to death in the inferno. An adult male passenger who had sustained serious injuries in the collision was treated on scene before being transported by private ambulance to the hospital for further care.

Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the SAPS who were on the scene.

Declaring a national state of disaster to address the country’s worsening power crisis was expected to be one of the key items on the agenda when President Cyril Ramaphosa convened his Cabinet for a lekgotla on Wednesday.

The meeting was expected to set the government’s priorities for the year. The gathering of government leaders follows the ANC lekgotla which saw party leaders throwing their weight behind a state of disaster to fast-track government actions to end load shedding.
