Home Affairs Minister Motsoaledi: Thabo Bester was identified through DNA tests

Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says DNA tests conducted by police between Thabo Bester and his mother have confirmed his identity.

He was responding to Members of Parliament during the department’s budget vote speech.

Motsoaledi is defending the department’s approach in investigating Bester’s origins which included interviewing his mother.

The minister says the mother told the department that she gave birth to Bester at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
