DJ Fresh reveals not regretting being sacked from Metro FM. Though not pleased with how everything worked out.
The DJ spent weeks off-air due to the use of foul language to a listener and it went on and on till his contract with the radio got terminated.
It bothered the whole of Mzansi and fans turned out on social media not pleased.
Amazingly, the star will be resuming 947 in August and it’s being a good news for his fans and supporters.
Speaking with SowetanLIVE, Fresh revealed his regrets, effect on his family and the new job.
“Offence is in the eye of the taker, not the giver. It’s not my place to say people are being unreasonable, I’m not going to use that word. People who know me know that I don’t believe in using words gratuitously. I’m not that guy,” he said.
“People mustn’t get excited about the use of offensive language. It has never been cool.”
“I don’t have a regret, but I think it’s regrettable how everything worked out. We didn’t have to be here,” he says.
“More often when you go through something [like this] it’s the time that you get to
reflect a lot. You get to meet yourself and see yourself with your clothes off – see who is in your corner. For me, it’s very clear who is and [is] not in my corner.”
Talking about his time in Metro FM, the DJ said:
“I’m not going to turn around and say my time at Metro was miserable. It was not, I think we made beautiful radio and touched a lot of lives. I have zero regrets about going to Metro.”
DJ Fresh explained how he narrated the then ordeal to his children and they had to learn financial management and the benefit of his new job with 947.
“They have access to the internet. I make sure they don’t find out everything on the internet,” he says. “We will sit them down and let them know I’ve been fired so you can’t eat Nando’s on Friday. On Friday we cook now.”
“My son is four and his entire life he has never woken up with me there, so he noticed. Those are the things you take for granted,” he says.
