Bafana Bafana Discover World Cup Opponents

Bafana Bafana has discovered who stands between them and a spot at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and there are some big games on the horizon for Molefi Ntseki’s men…
South Africa haven’t made it to a World Cup since hosting the tournament on home soil back in 2010, but Ntseki has ambitions of changing that for the next edition when it will take place in Western Asia.

Now, following tonight’s draw in Cairo, Bafana have found out that they will face Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Ghana in Group G of Africa’s second round of World Cup qualifiers, with the four teams battling it out for top spot in the group and a place in the final round for a place in the showpiece event in two years’ time.

Only five of the 40 teams left in the qualifiers will be on the plane to Qatar in 2022, and it will be no easy feat for Ntseki and his side amid trips to Eastern, Southern and Western Africa as they seek to secure first place in the group, with their first game taking place in October.

With Vision 2022, the brainchild of the South African Football Association, set to culminate at the World Cup in Qatar, fans of the game in Mzansi will be very keen to see what sort of squad Ntseki selects for his first game, with a number of changes expected by the coach.
