Deputy President David Mabuza calls for kindness from authorities on land invasions

Deputy President David Mabuza has called on authorities to be kind when dealing with illegal land invasions. Mabuza chaired an inter-ministerial meeting on land Reform and Agriculture.

Some of the issues discussed include progress on the State Land Allocation plan, land invasions challenges and the Beneficiary Selection and Allocation Policy.

The Agriculture and Land Reform Department has been assigned to consider setting up an internal conflict resolution mechanism to focus on land disputes.

Women, youth and people with disabilities will be prioritised when selecting land beneficiaries.

“Youth and women constitute the majority of our population and together with people with disabilities, have for long been economically marginalised.

“Therefore, measures adopted by our government in allocating land must place these categories of people at the forefront,” he said.

The deputy president also called on police to take preventative measures on rural murders.
