Police Minister Bheki Cele says ‘Amabherethe’ will be deployed to Finetown, south of Johannesburg.
This follows the weekend’s deadly shooting which left seven people dead and four wounded.
Cele visited the area on Monday to engage with residents.
He says police believe the killers are known but are being protected by some community members.
He added there are too many shebeens in the area and this should also be regulated.
Cele says while some corrupt police officers may be working with criminals, many are doing a good job.
