SA COVID-19: 1 898 new cases and 18 deaths recorded

It’s been two years since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in South Africa.

The country has recorded 1,898 new cases.

Gauteng recorded the most cases with 707 infections.

It’s followed by the Western Cape at 421 cases.

Limpopo, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and the North West all recorded less than a hundred cases.

Two more people died in the past 48 hours, but due to the ongoing audit, the death toll has increased by 18.

The country’s death toll stands at over 99,500.

The positivity rate stands at 6.3 percent.
