Tragedy as man dies after winning lotto

A 59-year-old man recently died without knowing he had won a lottery jackpot. According to The Mirror, Andrew Gillon from Scotland died following a horror stair fall.

“He tragically passed away days after he broke his neck at a friend’s house on New Year’s Eve. He died during surgery on 7 January, and his winnings will be collected by his heartbroken daughter,” the publication reported.

It is reported that Gillon had won a share of £7,9 million (about R160 million) along with other players.

And earlier this week, Postcode Lottery announced had that all winners would receive a minimum of £1 000 (about R20 000).

Gillon’s daughter, Lisa, told the publication that it was a bittersweet moment for her since she had to collect the money on her father’s behalf.

“Now I still feel sad that he’s not here to enjoy this with us, but I also feel some excitement for him. And, I’m sure he has had something to do with this,” she said.
