SA COVID-19: 17 489 new cases and 453 deaths recorded

South Africa has recorded just over 17,400 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours.
The daily death toll remains high, with 453 deaths.
Gauteng remains the epicentre, with nearly 8,000 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the last day.
The Western Cape’s infections have increased a great deal with just over 3,000 cases.
Limpopo’s numbers have nearly doubled, with almost 1,800 confirmed infections.
North West is sitting on just over 1,500 cases followed by Mpumalanga with almost 1,200 positive cases and Eastern Cape sitting at almost 800 positive cases.
