Bonginkosi Madikzela has resigned from the Western Cape cabinet and as the DA‘s provincial leader. According to the DA, Madikizela tendered his resignation on Wednesday after leading the province for more than three years.
The resignation comes after it emerged Madikizela lied about completing his B.Com qualification.
Albert Fritz will continue as the acting provincial leader until an interim leader is elected at the provincial council next month. Tertius Simmers will be the acting MEC of Transport and Public Works until further notice.
