Will Africa get enough Covid-19 vaccines?

Africa is getting at least 870 million Covid-19 vaccines in 2021. That’s after the African Union said it had secured an extra 270 million vaccines on top of the 600 million already promised.

But, so far, this is just about promises. The first mass rollout isn’t likely to take place until at least April.

And there are 1.3 billion people living on the continent, all of whom will need two doses. This means that, even if all the promised vaccines do materialise, that still only covers a third of the population.
