COVID-19 Vaccine: Biovac CEO says lab received samples

Biovac CEO, Morena Makhoana says the lab received the samples on Tuesday and tests will be conducted over the next couple of days.

The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines that arrived in South Africa are being tested at a lab in Bloemfontein. Authorities are making sure it’s authentic.

Biopharmaceutical company Biovac, has a three-month contract to store the vaccines at the right temperature, and distribute them later this month.

Provincial health departments have identified 200 centres where the vaccine will be administered. Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa, on Monday, announced adjusted Level 3 lockdown restrictions.

It remains compulsory for every person to wear a mask in a public space and the new curfew hours are from 11 pm to 4 am.
