COVID-19 patients must be isolated: President Cyril Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa commented on the mandatory hospitalisation of patients with COVID-19 on Thursday while assessing the Eastern Cape’s readiness to deal with a spike in infections.

Ramaphosa said the coronavirus has helped the state improve service delivery. He admitted there have been some minor setbacks. On the topic of mandatory hospitalisation of COVID-19 patients, Ramaphosa said collective safety must come first.

“Once you have it, we’ve got to have you isolated. If you’re not isolated, it’s likely and it’s not even likely, it’s a sure case that you’re going to infect a whole range of other people that you interact with. It’s not a violation of your rights, it’s actually the securing of the rights of other people and your own life.”

Ramaphosa gave the Eastern Cape the thumbs up for its work so far in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Malinga‘s family have welcomed two more boys to the brood and the musician is grateful to God for their arrival. Taking to Instagram on Thursday morning, the musician shared a screenshot from his first video call with his wifey and the boys.
