Covid-19 Updates

COVID-19 cases now 1,462 – Zweli Mkhize

The total number of coronavirus cases in South Africa has increased from 1,353 to 1,462. Health Minister Zweli Mkhize was at Universitas Hospital in the Free State with the COVID-19 task team when he revealed the updated number.

The minister said on his Twitter page that there is a restraint in numbers which the government thinks is due to the lockdown. “We want to say to our people we can fight this infection. We can defeat it. We need to flatten the curve. That is going to be very important for us. People stay at home when asked to, create social distancing, wear masks and wash/disinfect hands regularly,” the minister said.
