Jacob Zuma Foundation slams ConCourt ruling

The Jacob Zuma Foundation has accused the Constitutional Court ruling on Friday as amounting to judicial dictatorship.

The court upheld the judgment against former president Jacob Zuma that he be jailed for contempt of court.

He was also ordered to pay the legal costs of the rescission application.

Spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi says the foundation will take legal advice on the way forward.

“Indeed the highest court in the land has pronounced. If you had to say to me it is a judicial dictatorship, I wouldn’t be able to argue otherwise because of the situation here where the dignity of the court has been ranked much higher than human rights,” Manyi said.

“What kind of court is so angry and emotional that it loses the decorum of dealing with this matter? How do you deal with a 79-year-old like this and say skullduggery and all of that.

“So we think this is a clear indication that the contention we’ve had before that this court is emotional, that this court is angry has been reaffirmed.”
