Position Overview

The Claims Consultant manages and assesses claims effectively and efficiently, thereby assisting in ensuring optimal management and profitability of the business.

Responsibilities
Claims assessment and management of Individual Life (Facultative and Automatic) and Group business claims for the South African operation.
To carry out external audits as required.
To participate in the analysis of results and the provision of statistics.
Perform ad-hoc client-facing activities such as training, facilitating workshops and meetings and creating the technical material that would be the foundation of these activities.
Mentor the junior claims consultants as required

Requirements:
Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer literate and proficiency in Microsoft Office
Able to work independently and part of a team
Medical and vocational knowledge than can be applied in an insurance setting
At least 2 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist
3 -5 years of insurance claims assessment experience
Self-starter with distinct attention to detail and flexibility to handle diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable with decision making with innovative problem-solving ability.
Ability to travel.

Preferred:

Life insurance experience of all major benefit types.
Strong analytical and organizational skills, deadline-oriented.
Ability to multi-task and get the job done.
Good time management skills.
Good presentation skills.
