
President Cyril Ramaphosa says South Africa is planning to bring home 23 nationals trapped in Niger.
This is as the country battles political turmoil, following a coup last month.
Ramaphosa says the situation there is concerning.
At the same time, The Economic Community of West African States has agreed to activate a standby force as a last resort to restore democracy in Niger. The West African Leaders met in Accra, Ghana this week.
They fine-tuned details of a potential military operation to restore ousted President Mohamad Bazoum if ongoing negotiations with coup leaders fail.
