Christo Lamprecht dazzles at Open Championship

South African Christo Lamprecht has had golf scribes doing more research on him after the 22-year-old grabbed a share of the lead in round one of The Open Championship.
Lamprecht, who qualified for the Open by winning the Amateur Championship, posted seven birdies and two bogeys for a superb 66.

It’s the second-lowest opening round by an amateur in the history of the Open, with Tom Lewis carding an even better 65 in 2011.

Lamprecht, who is based in Georgia, USA, shares the lead with Emiliano Grillo as well as Tommy Fleetwood. Grillo overcame a nervous start to post five birdies on the back nine.

Fleetwood also sizzled after the turn, signing for four birdies to make it a three-way tie at the top. Lamprecht and his co-leaders are one shot ahead of Antoine Rozner, who is four under par with two others.
