4 new suspected cholera deaths reported in Free State

Four new suspected cholera deaths have been reported in the Free State.

The Department of Health says the four died in the last 10 days.

At the same time, there has been a decline in the number of both suspected and confirmed cholera cases around the country.

Only one of 28 new suspected cases has been confirmed as cholera in the past 10 days.

However, the Department’s warning that this does not mean the transmission of the bacteria is over.

It has urging the public to practise personal hygiene, especially when preparing and serving food at gatherings.
