Chloë Grace Moretz says that her new movie The Miseducation of Cameron Post is like The Breakfast Club set in a gay conversion therapy camp.
The film based on the 2012 novel of the same name follows Cameron Post (Moretz) a high school student who is sent to a gay conversion therapy centre by her conservative aunt after she caught in the backseat of a car with the prom queen
It had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year where is won the Grand Jury Prize for US Drama.
In an interview with the BBC Moretz revealed her personal connection to the movie’s themes.
Her two brothers are gay and coming from a small conservative Christian town it “was jarring to the community when they came out.”
The actress went on to say that her brothers dealt with a lot of self-hate and tried to pray the gay away.
