Employer: SFG Engineering Services
Manages and controls human resources and ensures optimum utilisation.
Controls all engineering activities onboard vessel whilst at sea by supervising team to ensure proper operation and maintenance of propulsion machinery and auxiliaries, mining equipment and treatment plant, and deck machinery
Conducts regular inspections and tests in order to ensure the safety and seaworthiness of the vessel and takes any corrective action where and when appropriate
Analyses the official engine log book in order to determine abnormalities and diagnoses and documents this accordingly with a plan to correct any imbalances
Co-ordinates shutdowns by planning maintenance to be completed
Manages the compilation of repair lists to be carried out in port by ship’s engineering staff and contractors
Manages the planned maintenance programs and forwards all relevant information to the Planned Maintenance Officer
Ensures all drawings and plans are current in line with modifications carried out
Scan the environment, manages and co-ordinates the identification of cost effective purchases and recommends preferred suppliers to the Procurement section.
Compiles legal reports as required
Candidate Requirements
T4 / N6 / NQF 6 (plus Apprenticeship, Post cadet-ship and then the appropriate Certificate of Competency)
Class 1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency, ( or >3000 kW vessel)
8 years relevant engineering experience which includes 3 years supervisory experience
