Charlotte Maxeke hospital will shut down for seven days.
More than 400 patients have had to be transferred after a fire at the facility on Friday.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura, who visited the hospital, says the fire is not out, yet.
Firefighters battled through the night to contain a fire at the hospital.
Structural engineers will conduct an assessment of the damage.
