Casac wants WC Judge President Hlophe, wife placed on special leave

Pressure is mounting on the embattled Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe. The Council for the Advancement of the SA Constitution (Casac) wants both him and Judge Gayaat Salie-Hlophe who is his wife, to be placed on special leave.

The two have been accused of gross misconduct. Deputy Judge president Patricia Goliath has complained that the couple is running the court like a ‘fiefdom’.

Casac wants an explanation from the Judicial Service Commission on how it plans to deal with the complaints.
