Court endorses settlement agreement between Casac and JSC

The Gauteng High Court has endorsed a settlement agreement between CASAC and the Judicial Service Commission.

The settlement relates to the matter of interviews for vacancies in the Constitutional Court in April this year.

In June CASAC launched an application to declare the conduct of the interviews illicit.

A draft order has also provided that the shortlist that was announced by the JSC be reviewed and set aside and that the JSC conduct new interviews of the candidates.

Casac says it’s in the public interest that the interviews be re-done and the vacancies be filled through a lawful process.
