Caps United skipper Method Mwanjale to wait

Caps United skipper Method Mwanjale to wait. Mwanjale, who suffered an ankle injury in October last year, was due to go under the knife to have the screws in his leg removed. This, however, did not happen owing to logistical issues caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

CAPS United defender Method Mwanjale will have to wait a bit longer to know his fate after failing to go for surgery due to Covid-19. And speaking to H-Metro on the possibilities of him hitting the ground running when the season starts, Mwanjale said he will have to wait a bit longer.

The local Premiership, which was suspended a week before kick-off in March, is expected to start between August and September. “I wish the operation was done before the lockdown because this means I will now have to wait a bit longer,” said Mwanjale.

“I was due to go for an operation for the removal of the screws on my ankle but I couldn’t manage due to lockdown, you know the logistics, it was impossible, especially during that first day.

“This means I will have to go for operation after the lockdown and it them means I need more time to heal,” he said. The veteran defender said though he is willing to be back on the pitch soon, he will not rush himself.

Mwanjale said the hope it does not take him time to return to full fitness. “Obviously it will take me some time, the idea is just to be patient though as a footballer you also want to bounce back.

“So in as far my future is concerned we can only talk about it when I get the operation is done and see how the road to recovery goes,” he said. Mwanjale, who is rumoured to be drafted in the technical staff in the future, said focus at the moment is to work on his fitness.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns player is among a few players who were retained by coach Darlington Dodo who offloaded a host of players. His injury towards the end of the season last season has been attributed to CAPS’ stumble in the title race.
