Safe transport is what Joanie Fredericks envisioned when she launched her taxi service Called Ladies Own Transport in Tafelsig.
It aims is to protect women, children, and also the elderly from the fear of being attacked or harassed when using public transport.
So far, Ladies Own Transport employs two female drivers and runs the bookings via telephone and WhatsApp. Tafelsig is often associated with crime and high unemployment. Frederiks is set on changing that and her drivers feel the same.
