The cause of the fire that engulfed the Vodacom head office in Century City Cape Town on Sunday is under investigation.
The City’s fire and rescue team has managed to control the fire and mop-up operations inside the building are underway.
The fire has completely destroyed the building’s interior.
Firefighters had to demolish the inner walls to clear a pathway to the affected parts of the structure.
The Vodacom Group Executive Officer, Byron Kennedy said no staff members were affected by the blaze.
“Given that it’s a Sunday there weren’t many people in the building, nonetheless it has been successfully evacuated with no injuries that we are aware of at this stage.”
The fire rescue team said the heavy downpour of rain in the city has also helped extinguish efforts.
