
Cabinet ministers will be deployed to the Western Cape to help in the fight against COVID-19. The province’s Premier, Alan Winde, is questioning if this is more political than medical intervention.
“I’ve tried to make sure politics does not get in the way of us trying to fight this virus. If people are asked to come and help – let’s engage on how we can help each other get through this virus and let’s not play politics,” Winde said.
Winde wants clarity from the national government on how the deployment will work.
The national COVID-19 death toll is at 1,080.
South Africa’s total number of confirmed cases is now at 50,879.
