English Premier League

Burnley 0 – 2 Manchester United

Manchester United moved a point behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League table thanks to a victory against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Anthony Martial slotted in the opener after Andreas Pereira capitalised on a mistake by Charlie Taylor late in the first half.

The Frenchman could have scored earlier when Phil Bardsley cleared his strike off the line.

Marcus Rashford made it 2-0 when he rounded the keeper in stoppage time.

Burnley lacked goalscoring opportunities but could have equalised in the second half when David de Gea pushed Bardsley’s volley around the post.

The victory sees United move up to fifth after Tottenham were held to a 2-2 draw by Norwich earlier on Saturday.

Burnley remains 13th with four defeats in their last six matches during December.
