Brian Hlongwa case needed complex investigations, says NPA

The NPA says extensive investigation needed to be done in the Hlongwa case.

Former Gauteng Health MEC Brian Hlongwa appeared in the Johannesburg magistrate’s court on Tuesday along with eight others.

Phindi Mjonondwane, from the NPA said: “Firstly, the investigations in this matter were quite complex and remember that as the NPA, we don’t conduct the investigation, however, we guide investigation so we were working closely with many stakeholders.

“So we had to give them that space and opportunity to conduct their work without any interference from us but with us rather playing a role in guiding them in preparation for this day.”
