Bouwer Bosch and Janeske Rademan first team to be eliminated from Tropika Island of Treasure Curaçao

Last week’s episode of Tropika Island of Treasure Curaçao saw the first Tropika Long Life ceremony taking place where #TeamCoolRed came out on top earning themselves a valuable advantage in the game. The episode also ended with a whole lot of drama going down between Kay Sibiya and his #TeamPeach teammate, Caldine Wyngaard, which gained momentum in last night’s episode.

The first team challenge in last night’s episode was water conservation-related and required concentration, speed, stamina and delicacy from all teams. The challenge saw #TeamTropical and #TeamCoolRed disqualified, leaving a gap for #TeamPeach to swoop in and take the win.

The second team challenge consisted of two stages. The first stage required the teams to retrieve a set of balls from a net hanging above them using a pipe before knocking down six Tropika bottles representing the other teams in the second stage. The remaining bottles represent the amount of points the team adds to the leader board. The challenge clearly showed viewers the social aspect of the game and just how important alliances are this season. Ultimately, #TeamOrange and #TeamTropical found themselves at the bottom and both faced elimination.

In the elimination challenge, memory was tested as KatlegoMaboe, host of this season, showed the two teams up for elimination a series of sequences made up of different Tropika flavours. Each team was equipped with a cube representing each of the flavours and were tasked with remembering which flavour came next in the sequence. Unfortunately, Bouwer Bosch and Janeske Rademan #TeamOrange found themselves losing the challenge and became the first team to be eliminated from the show.

Now, Bouwer Bosch and Janeske Rademan open up about their Tropika Island of Treasure experience after their elimination from the show: Who did you hope would be your partner in Tropika Island of Treasure Curaçao?

Janeske Rademan

Bouwer:    I really hoped to team up with Janeske. From the get go she looked like she had a fun personality and seemed like someone who would always give her best. Her audition video was very funnny and I liked her from the beginning. Lucky for me I got the privilege to team up with her!

Janeske:   I had my eye on Bouwer Bosch or Nadia Jaftha.

What was the biggest highlight about your time on the show?

Bouwer:    I got to meet some of the coolest people in SA.  It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to spend so much time with strangers and people from all walks of life.  It was awesome being in the middle of nowhere on an incredibly beautiful island with people from your own country. You appreciate your country and the people in it so much when you get to spend time away for a while. Getting perspective is such a blessing. The friendships we made on this adventure will always be dear and special.

Janeske:     Meeting amazing people that made a significant impact in my life. If it wasn’t for the opportunity that Tropika gave me, I would have never got the privilege of getting to know so many hard working and incredible people.

Do you wish you had done anything differently?

Bouwer:      Yes, definitely.  I would have listened more to how the games work and not let things that were happening off-camera (the social aspect of the game) affect me so much in the game and during challenges.  I would just approach it with more focus; eat less Coco Pops in the morning; work out more and get physically ready.  I would definitely not want a different partner. Janeske was the best ever.  It’s not always about winning, it’s about looking good when losing.  When Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and 50cent also fell out of the first rounds in their separate seasons they also looked good, and look where they are today – taking over the world.

Janeske:    Yes, I wish I didn’t take everything so personally and just played the game
