Boity Thulo to launch self-defense classes for women

Boity Thulo recently announced on Instagram, that she would be hosting the first ever Shemurai self-defense pop-up Dojo with Sensei Giorgie Bhunu this September.

The 28-year-old actress and TV presenter, has teamed up with martial arts expert Sensei Giorgie Bhunu to launch a series of self-defense pop-up classes, which are aimed at teaching women how to empower themselves.

“Self-defense for women is not about going blow-for-blow with a male aggressor. It’s about empowering yourself as a woman with skills that could buy you those extra few seconds that could save your life,” she captioned

Before making her big announcement Boity shared a collection of images while performing self-defense techniques with Sensei Georgie on her Instagram, in which she encouraged all the independent and strong women to become better versions of themselves by building their bodies.

The series of self-defense pop-up classes will consist of techniques that can be applied in real life situations and could help combat the scourge of gender-based violence in South Africa.
