Hip Hop artist and rapper Big Xhosa whose real name is Sesethu Myeki, shows off his new house and leaves Mzansi in doubt. Big Xhosa’s claims that he splashed around R900 000 to purchase a double-storey house in cash were thrown out of the window by his fans.
“I bought it cash! Thank you, God,” he took it to Twitter to celebrate his newly acquired house, a tweet that backfired after Mzansi pointed out his financial inability to afford such a big house.
“Why are you outside the gate? If the house is yours, where are the keys, and did you purchase the cars in the garage? This claim insults our intelligence,” one tweeter user vents out.
“Air down, people his talking about the yellow pants, not the house.”
The 23-year-old rapper hailed from Cathcart, a small town in Eastern Cape and had a tough childhood. Big Xhosa revealed that her grandmother raised him on her grant money; he was inspired by AKA and Cassper Nyovest during his high school days. Sesethu rose to fame by mimicking Big Zulu, “imali eningi” hitmaker and named himself Big Xhosa. When he released a diss track, he hogged the headlines, chiding established South African hip hop artists. He warned them of a hostile takeover as the king of rap if they let their guard down.
Despite dissing all artists in a song, Big Xhosa confessed the inspiration he drew from all of them.
“I like the rappers I mentioned in my song, and I believe they play an important role in hip-hop today. Their hustle inspires me, and they made it out of where they were to where they now inspire me. I don’t hate any of them; we do this for the culture; hip hop is not a church.”
Big Xhosa used music to change his family’s fortunes, and his recent house purchase attests to that; he revealed that securing decent shelter for his family has been on his priority list.
