The Police Minister Bheki Cele said South African prisons are 44% over-populated during the launch of #OperationShanela in Soweto.

200 undocumented people were arrested earlier this morning in JHB CBD during high density operations as build up to the National launch of #OperationShanela

SAPS is clamping down illegal immigrants as build up to the National launch of #OperationShanela.

Police Minister Bheki Cele said this during the launch of #OperationShanela in Soweto. “I’m calling on the police to go harder on criminals when they challenge them. The tools we are giving you must be used.”

Cele says it is not true that the SAPS is not doing any work, he says the criminals who have been arrested are evidence of that as they did not voluntarily ask to be in prison.
