Beitbridge border fence case in court

Experts who investigated the ineffective Beitbridge border fence say they fear for their lives if they testify about its poor quality.
The Special Investigating Unit surprised the Special Tribunal of the High Court on Monday in applying for a postponement of the trial in which it’s trying to have the contract to build the fence declared invalid.
The SIU says it didn’t foresee its expert witnesses would refuse to testify.
Judge Lebogang Modiba has dismissed the SIU’s application and says the case must proceed.
